Since 1980, metalware factory LEWO has been involved in the development and production of high-quality flue and chimneys made of stainless steel under the name Holetherm. A few months ago, we already introduced the revolutionary Holetherm Evolution and BENG systems, and now we present our latest innovation.

Leadax as substitute

In these roof panels, lead has been replaced with Leadax. Leadax is a high-quality lead substitute and is considered the second generation of lead substitutes. This means that Leadax is easy and quick to work with, as simple as lead. It can simply be knocked into shape, does not need to be glued, can be used on old (moss-covered) roofs. Moreover, it has no harmful effects on humans and the environment.

 A Dutch invention

Leadax is a Dutch invention, certified as the only lead substitute in the world. It is made of Polyvinyl butyral (PVB), a material derived from the recycling process of laminated glass (car windows). Leadax's founders used PVB for this lead substitute in combination with stainless steel expanded metal, which is both beneficial for users and highly sustainable. 

Leadax represents circularity by reusing PVB, which was previously often destroyed and not used in new applications. The product does not weather or discolour and is itself 100% recyclable. A Dutch innovation!
