Innovative Heating Solutions Groups role

The Innovative Heating Solutions Group is an active participant in various industry-related working groups and platforms as is the case with the NHK. In addition, the IHS Group continuously takes initiatives to improve the quality of fireplace solutions, installations and use. Through participation in the NHK, we are well-informed about what is going on in the market and contribute ideas on topical issues. Thus, we also support this positioning and, like the NHK, propagate it. The NHK made an animation that briefly highlights the major differences.

A few facts, purely for your understanding

- Did you know that a law was passed in the Dutch Senate in December 2021, ratifying European Directive RES 2018/2001?

- The predecessor of this RES was already published in 2009

- Did you also know that according to this RES, EU Member States should promote the professional installation of wood-burning stoves, among others, on the basis of qualifications and/or certification?

- On top of that, the NHK set up an accredited professional training and associated quality scheme under the predecessor of this European Directive published in 2009?

- To this day, the Dutch government uses this NHK scheme to comply with this RES, but that this NHK scheme is in no way promoted by the Dutch government?

- As a final fact; Hugo de Jonge, as minister of the interior (responsible ministry), was asked about this by MPs. He then referred to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management policy on air quality and thus has no idea that lack of quality within his ministry leads to deterioration of air quality.
